Hoodie Help

I’m knitting a lovely hoodie for my granddaughter. It’s an Etsy Pattern, Hooded Top and Jacket. However, the hood is knitted separately and as its chunky wool I’m worried the joining seam will be too bulky. The rest of the sweater is joined using whip stitch.

I wondered whether, if I didn’t cast off back neck and picked up side and front neck stitches, I could knit the hood, reversing the instructions. I thought I could add the moss stitch border after I’d done the main hood.

What do you all think? The actual instructions for the hood are really straightforward.

Any advice much appreciated.

That sounds do-able. There are several hood patterns that are worked just that way. Is the moss stitch border a continuation of the front bands of the jacket?

I’m doing the sweater not the jacket. Because the hood is knitted moss stitch band first I thought I’d add it last. That will allow me to overlap the bit by the front neck. What do you think?
