You start with the 5 held stitches from the front piece and knit a long, narrow band that will then be slip stitched to the front. Does that help?

Somewhat, do I connect the strip up the side as I’m knitting or does it get knitted to the bottom 5 sts into that and seamed on later? Uh what is “row 2 row”?

It looks like the reference to row 2 is for the colors in the stripe pattern. I can’t determine whether you should finish on a RS or WS row. You don’t attach the band as it’s knitted.

Slip st band into place.

I agree, the band starts at the bottom garter stitch trim, then is seamed to the front when finishing Under the directions for Front Bands, it says to " Slip st band into place"…

The “Row 2 row” refers to the garter color pattern which should end on a WS row (knit a row 2):
Row 1 [RS]: K with MC.
Row 2 [WS]: K with MC.
Row 3 [RS]: K with CC.
Row 4 [WS]: K with CC.

Thank you both so much
