Hole-y knitting!

Hi all

I have noticed that my knitting seems pretty loose so that there are noticeable gaps around the stitches. I don’t like this. I assume it is a tension issue or maybe I am using the wrong size needles even though the gauge is right. Is there anything I can do to resolve this?

Here is a picture…

Thank you!

What is the name of your pattern and designer?
It looks like this is due to the yarn and it’s not you. Your knitting looks nice and even.
It may be that although you can knit this yarn to the pattern gauge, it’s going to be a bit loose and drapey. It also looks like a blown yarn which tends to be softer and more pliable.
You could go down in needle size to tighten up the knitting but then you would not be on gauge for your pattern.
If you really don’t want the current knit fabric, you could try some swatches on smaller size needles till you find a knit fabric that you do like, then look for a pattern in that gauge. The other possibility is to keep your pattern but look for another yarn. The current yarn could be saved for another project.

Your knitting so far looks lovely.

Ah, thank you for the reassuring words Salmonmac.

This is the pattern: https://myfavouritethings-knitwear.com/collections/english/products/camisole-no-10-english

And the yarn is Laine du nord - it is silk.

If I know that it is not due to my knitting then I can probably live with the looseness!

Thank you again so much for the encouragement

Looks normal and fine to me.
If you reduce the needle size you’d close up the knitting but could result in a very firm fabric that doesn’t flex and drape in such a nice way.

Lovely pattern! It will work very successfully with your yarn and gauge. Love the color too.

Looks normal for plied silk yarn. Very pretty in fact!

I suppose the only question would be whether underwear might show, but that seems unlikely. If it does, you could wear a garment that is close to your skin colour.
