I am teaching myself to knit and I am running into a problem cabling. My sweater pattern has a C3B follwed by a C3F. When I do this I get a hole between the 2 cables. I have redone the same row numerous times but something is not right. The cables look fine except in this spot. How do I avoid this?
I am grateful for your advice.
Welcome to the forum!
A small hole is not unusual. You’re moving sts and putting tension on the strand between the two cables.
Knitting tightly is going to make the hole larger. Using a lighter weight yarn on large needles will also emphasize the hole. Smooth yarn like cotton or bamboo might also make a hole show up more than a fuzzier wool yarn.
