Has anyone ever read “No Idle Hands” or “History of Knitting”? I have been eyeing them since about Christmas time. Today, I decided to look them up on ebay and found the both for much cheaper than everywhere else. They are both hardback and the “No Idle Hands: The Social History of American Hand Knitting” was cheaper than I could find the paperback version everywhere else. The History of Knitting book is new.
I can’t wait to read them!!!

Macdonald, contains insight into the who, what, when, where, why, and how of the role of knitters in the U.S. Household knitting, wartime knitting, and trends in knitting are among the topics covered. It begins with the colonists and runs through the influences of Zimmerman and Righetti. Interesting pictures and a bibliography that’s a potential goldmine. I highly recommend it!

I can’t think of anything I’d rather do when I’m not knitting…
It’s so funny…we just can’t stay away from knitting. When I’m knitting, I’ll sometimes watch knitting videos! I also like to watch spinning videos, since it shows where the yarn came from. (I’m learning to spin too.)
yep…I’m officially knitting crazed! I spend insane amounts of time on this message board, I watch knitty gritty (and I DO NOT watch TV…had a time figuring out how to find DIY network in all those channels!!), I have books on the history of…I take my knitting everywhere and I am the founder of the SNB in my area that now has over 30 members and meets twice a week!
It’s safe to say I like knitting…
I’ve gotten “No Idle Hands” from the library. It was very thorough and interesting. I also checked out “History of Hand Knitting”…I found it so boring that I couldn’t even get though the first few chapters.
Just my two cents…
Thanks Kayeknit…I was afraid they’d both be so boring I’d fall asleep…I generally don’t like history but I am fairly intrigued by the history of knitting.
