Hi Everyone....Just a quick question regarding yo (yarnover)

My question is what does yo do for a pattern? Does it increase your stitches, or does it create a pattern? I’ve read a few patterns that use this technique, but I don’t know what it’s for. This is just a question for when I get beyond the beginner stage.
Thanks all!
Beth

It increases your stitches and creates a pattern. A yo creates a hole in the work. The key with yo is that if you want to maintain the same amount of stitches in the piece, you’ll have to decrease by 1 st for every YO. YO can also be used to make button-holes.

Hope that helps!
