I think the mesh pattern would look better in a solid color or if the color changes were less frequent or something. Maybe it’'s just me - I think a solid color would show off MoniDew’s pattern better. I look forward to using it.
I’m probably gonna used my mom’s left over’s from Shasta’s and my Grams’s blankets to make mine

Monica, isn’t there an alternate cast on rather than magic loop? Couldn’t we cast on 8 on two circs, 4 stitches each, and work in the round like that?

i’d expect you can, i don’t own dpns, and i changed my fingerless mittens from dpns to 2 circs
I used 2 circs and a Turkish cast on then started knitting w/one long circ for ML. I’ve been wanting to try the Turkish cat on since Jan mentioned it and this was the perfect opportunity.

I haven’t used ML but a few times, the last time I did I found myself a bit annoyed :???: with it. How do you find it different from using two circulars? I saw there was a video on KH but haven’t tried it out yet.
I started the bag using Peaches & Creme cotton. Unfortunately, I already goofed. I’m going to have to frog back about four rows, I think. Here’s what I’ve done (before frogging). I used the Emily Ocker CO.
Very pretty! I had to look up How To Knit Emily Ocker’s Circular Cast-On. I’ll have to try it. Thanks for helping me learn something new! The link is here in case anyone else wants to see the video. 
Obviously, you can use any cast on that you wish! I was trying for one that didn’t leave a giant hole in the bottom of the bag. But whatever is comfortable for you - USE IT!

:roflhard: :roflhard: :roflhard: I read your second reference to Turkish “cat” and immediately went looking for a Turkish cat, here kitty, kitty, - looking for an adorable meow meow. And then I realized, cast on, not cat on.
Not only have you given us this wonderful pattern (which I have to make again!) but you opened up learning opportunities for us too. How much more successful could a first published pattern be? I think it’s great that you included a cast on so that those new to knitting in the round like this had something to go to get started right away rather than searching and asking questions and maybe getting discouraged.

I learned the Emily Ocker CO when making the Hemlock Ring by Jared Flood. It’s a little awkward at first, IMO,but in my experience, it closes up that center hole very nicely, and it stays put! I remember reading that Elizabeth Zimmerman used the Emily Ocker CO for her circular knitting. I don’t know if that’s true or not, but it’s definitely worth taking the time to learn the technique, IMO. I always have a hard time getting a circle started, no matter which CO method I use.
how’s everyone doing with their bags? any issues?
My new bag got a compliment in Walmart the other day. I told the gal at checkout that I’d just made it and she said, “You made that? Wow!” From someone as busy as she was, that’s high praise!
Does that count as an issue? Probably not, but in spite of my knitting your pattern scored! :happydance:
Well, I’m moving along–just in the wrong direction! 
The problem was with the knitter, not the pattern! I just wasn’t paying attention, and duplicated one of the lace rows after a knit row. Oh, well…
oh, yeah! I’ve done that too. Zigged, when I should have zagged. It’s tough to pay attention to what you’re doing if you’re anything like me and watch television while you’re knitting.
The easiest way I have discovered to keep track of which round I’m on is this: glance down at round just worked. Have you just done a knit around? Or are you on a round that has yarn overs? What is the last stitch worked, right before the stitch marker where you change rounds? if you have just knit around and the stitch you just knit into is a YO, then the next round will start with a YO. if you have just knit around and the stitch you just knit into was a skp, then you start with a k2tog. or… maybe that is more confusing than it is helpful…
