Here goes... Scarf (FO) & Shrug (WIP)

Hello there

I joined your forum just over a week ago desperate for some help with my shrug, Ingrid came to my rescue (thank you!) and I’ve been mesmerised by all your projects ever since! Ultimate distraction from work!

I thought I’d join in and show you the progress with my shrug, which is being worked in Debbie Bliss Pure Silk from this pattern:
http://www.debbieblissonline.com/books/ps/ps_12.htm

I’m just finishing the back (after unravelling half of it this morning! ) so I just have the rest of the front and the edging left to do. It’s been quite a challenge so I’m glad I’ve persevered with it, and I’m learning a lot along the way… like the cost of the yarn is proportional to the number of mistakes you make…

Here’s also a recent FO I thought I’d show you, it’s my interpretation of the Rockstar Scarf from Knitty: knitty.com

I can’t seem to find Koigu in the UK, so I got inventive with two strands of DK in hot pink & red, knitting each one every three stitches to get the stripey effect (I don’t know if this has a name?). That fur was so much fun to knit with and I now have a warm and funky scarf that tickles my nose when I wear it :happydance:

Thanks for looking! :XX:

(ps. I hope my pictures aren’t too big, let me know if they are and I’ll resize them!)

Those look great!!!

(and the pictures don’t seem to be to big)

Those are awesome! Great job!

Wow, that’s gorgeous! Do you like working with that yarn?

 You know, a shrug would be a good first-adult sized project, not nearly as big as a regular cardigan!

Great job! The shrug is going to be beautiful! :inlove:

FANTASTIC job on both!!! I love your rock star scarf & I’m so glad that you stuck with your shrug…GORGEOUS :cheering: :happydance: :cheering: :happydance:

Never in amnillion years will I be ready to do anything as good as the shrug, :frowning: but that scarf :inlove: looks like a lot of fun :XX:

I M doing more and more scarves
using up Yarn

Hi Toast King–I have been scouring the web looking for help with this very pattern, as I am making it for my 21 year old daughter for Christmas.
Yours looks GREAT–but I am stumped as I have completed the first 14 rows and don’t know how to continue the pattern. How did you do it and do you have any words of wisdom ?? Thanks for any help!
Ellen

Hiya! I got really stuck after the first 8 rows so you’re doing much better than me! - I just had no idea what “increasing in pattern” was  - luckily, KH to the rescue - Here’s a link to the help that Ingrid :notworthy: gave me then! I’ll have a looky at the pattern this week and see if I can recall what I did at row 14  By the way, my poor shrug is still in a half-seamed heap on my shelf - really must finish it!!

That shrug is gorgeous! :inlove:

I like the scarf too. :teehee:

Amazing! You are very talented. And WELCOME. We love being a distraction from work!

Thanks !! I will check it out and let you know if I can move on past row 14 – You did a great job on yours so seam it up and see how it fits !

Hi Toast King! I’m a newbie on KH, but am finding it very informative already  I was really glad to have found your post about the shrug’s increases in pattern and have successfully been increasing that way (according to Ingrid’s advice) ever since. I’ve done 38 rows already (woohoo!) but… I am using a different yarn. I’m using Jaeger Matchmaker DK and it should knit up to the same gauge. I’ve actually tested it… however, I get the feeling that I’m out of gauge, as it’s getting big. I’m knitting the same size as you, could you tell me how wide the back piece is at the bottom (where you started out) and at the top (where you finish)?
My back piece is now 5in high and 27.5in wide.

So sorry to bother you about this, but it would help me a lot!

Yes, Ingrid is a peach! She was so nice and helped me understand a pattern I didn’t understand.

Your pieces are beautiful and that scarf is way cool!
