I’ve just started knitting. I’m doing my first project which is a small pet blanket. I am doing just knit stitches.
I notice that when I go to do a knit stitch, its like there are 2 loops tied very tightly and I can hardly put the knitting needle in to do a stitch. This happens maybe 1 out of every 30-40 stitches. The majority is normal.
What did I do wrong in the first place and how do I fix it?
Thanks! Any advice for a newbie would help a lot!
It’s hard to say for sure without seeing it, but you may not be completing the stitch on the previous row when this happens. It’s common with new knitters. Look at your stitches next to the ‘double’ ones and see if maybe you can fix it.
Also if you can post a picture it would help.
You may have made the new stitch on the previous row but not completely dropped the old stitch, thus resulting in two loops, which seem tighter. If this is the case, you can figure out which loop was the new one, keep it and drop the other/old one to create a single loop st as normal.
