Help!

Hello I am a brand new knitter but I found this pattern I really want to try I just have no idea what this means.
Row 1: (WS) K2, *(k1, p1, k1) in next st, p3tog; rep from * to
last 2 sts, k2.

The pattern calls to cast on 80 stitches, which I did…Then on my first row I knitted two, then I K1, P1, K1, and then I did the purl 3 stitches together, and then I repeated that unitl I got to my last two stitches inwhich I knittted.
Row 3: K2, *p3tog, (k1, p1, k1) in next st; rep from * to last 2
sts, k2.
Row 4: Purl.
This is suppose to be a purse but the way Im going with all the purling 3 stitches together I’ll be finished in about 6 rows.

What am I doing wrong. Please Help!

After the first k2, the ki,pi,k1 is supposed to be into one stitch. You would knit 1 but don’t drop the st off the left needle, bring the right needle around and p1 into the same st and then finally swing the right needle around again and knit 1 into that same st and then slip the st off the needle. Don’t do this too tightly or it will be very difficult to work.
It will increase 2 sts and be balanced by the purl 3 sts together which decreases 2 sts.
Here’s a video that may help. There are several others if you Google k1p1k1 in one stitch.

The k1 p1 k1 is to be done all in one st, not on 3 separate sts. If that is a little tight, you can k1 yo k1 in the one st instead. It’s a little easier and looks the same.

Thank you so much!! Im very excited about starting this project!
