pattern says pick up 16 stitches then cast on 10 how do l do this

After you pick up the 16sts, take the needle with the 16sts in your left hand and use the cable cast on or knitted cast on to cast on the 10sts. See the Free Videos tab at the top of the page, Cast Ons for how to. Good luck with the project!
