I am having trouble with this pattern…it says[S 1 as if to knit, place back on LH needle in new orientation, k2tog,tbl, cont in rib pat to 2 sts before next marker, k2tog,sl marker] twice…what is new orientation? does twice really mean 2 rows?
Help!
When you slip as if to knit the stitch will twist. So they want you to slip it as if to knit and then transfer it back to the left hand needle. Twice is not two rows. It means to repeat everything in the brackets two times.
I can’t figure out how to do everything twice, once I do the k2tog, do I k2tog again immediately, and then cont in pat?
[S 1 as if to knit, place back on LH needle in new orientation, k2tog,tbl, cont in rib pat to 2 sts before next marker, k2tog,sl marker] twice
You will S1 as if to knit, place stitch back on LH needle, K2tog,tbl, cont in rib pat to 2 sts before next marker, k2tog, sl marker.
The next thing you do is S1 as if to knit, place stitch back on LH needle, K2tog,tbl, cont in rib pat to 2 sts before next marker, K2tog, slip marker.
Then I am assuming that there are more direction telling you how to end the row? Maybe you could type out a little more of the directions for the rest of the row.
Just remember you do EVERYTHING that is in brackets.
Maybe I am having a senior moment, but no matter how many times I try to figure it out, I can’t …here is the whole thing… Next (dec) rnd [S1 as if to knit, place back on LH needle in new orientation, k2tog, tbl, cont in rib pat to 2 sts before next marker, k2tog, sl marker] twice-128 sts. I started out with 132 stitches
Oh, I think I get it …so I am knitting 2tog before AND AFTER the marker?

You are doing a decrease row. You have two K2tog’s that is 2 decreases you do the brackets once more that gives you a total of 2more K2tog’s so the total for the row is 4 K2tog’s 132 stitches minus 4 gives you 128 stitches. This should work out. What exactly is happening when you do the row, are you get more stitches or less stitches or is it something else?
Sounds like you figured it out.
I end up at the end of the row where the first marker is
thank you …time for a glass of wine now
Your welcomed. Glad to be of help.
