Help!

I am making baby booties for the first time and I am having trouble understanding the directions. They read as follows:

slip the first st from the left to right needle; countdown 2 ridges on the WS of garter st rows, pick up and knit the top loop of the first st on this ridge. Pass the first st over the new st;

This is the part I am supposed to repeat. The title of this section is called Welt.

Anyone out there that can help???

Thank you,
Kelly

I see no one has tackled this one. A welt is the bottom area of a gansey sweater, that is in a stitch that lies flat. What is it on the bootie? Where are you in the process and how is the bootie constructed? Are you working flat or in the round? Cuff down, or some other way?

That whole section is a repeat?

I have to admit I have not seen this done on a bootie. I’m just trying to learn more so someone may be able to help. Is there anyplace we can go to see the pattern or even a picture of the booties?

It looks as if you’re almost making a pleat–maybe around the top of the bootie?

After you slip the stitch, look at the back of the work and count down to the second ridge. Put the purl bump on your left needle and then knit it. After that, lift the slipped stitch up and over as if you were binding off.
