I’m knitting a baby sweater, can anyone help me understand this? It’s for a sleeve
Inc 1 st at each end of next [3rd: 3rd: 3rd: 3rd: 3rd] and every foll alt [4th: 4th: 4th: 4th: 6th] row to 39 [47: 53: 49: 49: 65] sts,
I get the 3rd row, but what does every foll alt 4th row actually mean? Thanks for any help
Help!
There are actually 6 sizes for this baby sweater. The smallest size is inc at each end of the next and every following alt row. For most of the other sizes it’s increase at each end of the 3rd and every following 4th row to the given number of sts for your size.
So that would be on rows 3,7,11,15,19 and so on.

This is where a row counter comes in handy. After the first increase, knit 3 more rows in pattern. After the 3rd row, when you begin the 4th row, do another set of increases. Continue this way until you reach the number of stitches required for the size you’re making. Hope this helps.
