Help!!!!!

Hi there! I’m quite new to knitting but I’m really stuck! My pattern is a bambino dk and says dec 1 st at each end of 5th and 4 foll 8th. I start with 52 stitches and should finish with 42 the pattern says I just can’t figure it out!!! Thanks in advance!

You decrease one stitch at either end of the 5th row, then at either end of the 8th row after that, either end of the 8th row after that, either end of the 8th row after that and either end of the 8th row after that. So, decrease either end of your 5th, 13th, 21st, 29th and 37th rows. That’s 5 rows where you’ll be decreasing by 2 stitches per row, which would be 10 altogether, so you should be left with 42 stitches.

No problem, you’ll eventually get the hang of reading patterns. Meantime, just ask for any help you need!
