Help with yarn alternative

Hey all,

Just wanting some yarn alternative help. I am about to embark on a baby sweater from a Debbie Bliss Simply Soft book. It calls for Debbie Bliss Cashmerino Astrakhan wool and size 7 needle. The gauge is 18 stitches and 26 rows to a 4inch square.

So I want to knit this but in a more economical and more widely available yarn (read that I want to pick up some wool on the way home from work at Michaels which has 50% off yarn at the moment)…

Any ideas?? I do love the “bobbly” appearance of this wool and I want to be able to throw this in the wash… Why knit something for a baby that has to be handwashed!

Thanks

Try for something in the same weight (worsted probably) with a similar appearance. Some of the baby yarns are a boucle and so is Bernats soft boucle.
