Hmmm. Either you’re asking about how to move the working yarn into the correct position between a knit st to a purl st (or vice versa, between a purl st to a knit st), OR you’re asking about how to wrap a stitch to turn short rows while working ribbing…?

If it’s the latter (the short rows), here’s a good link on wrapping and turning short rows, as well as picking the wraps up later:

http://www.knotions.com/techniques/short_rows/how_to_knit_short_rows.aspx

If it’s the former, then always remember that in order to switch your working yarn between knit sts (working yarn to the back) and purl sts (working yarn to the front), you always move the working yarn between the two needles and under the tip of the right needle. It never goes over the right needle.

The only “exception” to this (and it’s not actually an exception) is when you do a yarn-over (YO) between a knit st and a purl st. At that point, you must bring the working yarn from the back of the work to the front of the work by bringing it under the tip of the right needle, then take it over the right needle to the back of the work (which completes the YO), and then move your working yarn into position for the purl st by bringing it once more under the tip of the right needle to the front of the work.

Usually when you wrap a stitch, you slip the wrapped stitch when you turn and work back over the sts.
