Help with vintage baby pattern and yoke

Could anyone help me with this please? It’s an old pattern my mum used to do for all our babies and I now want to do it for upcoming babies but I’m stuck (so wish she was here to ask). I’ve done all the pieces but am stuck on the left front before commencing the yoke. When I’ve done the ridge row do I keep that left front on the needle and then add the other pieces onto that needle too? But then I would have two fronts together and that can’t be right, and also it says with wrong side facing knit across the stitches but it’s falling as right sure facing yet I’ve done all the rows it says! Can anyone help? I’ve been puzzling it all afternoon and I could scream!!! Thank you

Hello
What a lovely tradition to continue!

The ridge on the left front it produce by knitting on the wrong side, making a purl bump or garter ridge on the right side.
Once you have worked this on the left side do not turn. Keep that needle in your right hand with wrong side still facing.
Now on the left needle place right front with wrong side facing, then sleeve, then back, then sleeve, all with wrong side facing.
Using the working yarn still joined to the left front, on the right needle, join the pieces by knitting right across (to last 4 sts, see pattern for final 4).
The first piece is sleeve, then back, then sleeve and finally right front. Button and edges are now at each end.
Then turn.
You should now have right side facing and all the bits in the orrect positions, ready to work the yoke beginning on right side.

Hope this helps, we’d love to see pic when you’re finished.

Thank you so much. I’ll give it a go! Thank you :slightly_smiling_face:
