Help with understanding pattern

Hi! I am new to knitting and am having trouble understanding the pattern I am following. Could anyone tell me what this is asking me to do: “on foll 4th rows, cast of 1st st 6 times, then cast of 1st 7 times, 2sts 3 times, 3 sts twice and 5 sts once”. Thank you!!

Welcome to KH and to knitting!
You’re to decrease every 4 row so that’s rows 1,5,9,13,17,21 etc.
On the first 6 of these decreases cast off 1 stitch,
then continue to cast off one stitch on the next 7 of these 4th rows
cast off 2 sts on the next 3 of these 4th rows, then cast off 3sts on the next 2 of the 4th rows and finally 5sts.

What is the name of your pattern?

Thank you for your help!
I think the pattern is called a melusine cardigan, but I’m not sure if thats what you are asking for. I am still a little confused, because wouldn’t this make one side of the cardigan decrease while the other stays straight? I am working on the back of the cardigan so I think that both side would have to decrease equally.

"When work meas 30 cm from beg, on each edge, cast off 1 st once, then:
on foll 4th rows, cast off 1 st 6 times, then cast off 1 st 7 times, 2 sts 3 times,
"
This is I believe the complete direction. It’s easy to miss out on those small words like “each”.

I can’t believe I missed that. Thank you so much for all your help!!
