Help with Term in Knitting

Hi
Can someone tell me what “Alternatively work as folls:” means?
This what the pattern for a square says:
SQUARE Using 4½mm (US 7) needles cast on 41 sts. Beg at bottom right hand corner of chart A, cont in patt from chart until all 55 rows have been worked, ending with WS facing for next row. Cast off. Alternatively work as folls: Using 4½mm (US 7) needles cast on 41 sts. Row 1 (RS): Knit. This row forms g st. Cont in g st for a further 2 rows, ending with WS facing for next row. Row 4 (WS) and every alt row: K1, P to last st, K1. Row 5: K4, * P1, K7, rep from * to last 5sts, P1, K4. Row 7: K3, *P3, K5, rep from * to last 6sts, P3, K3, rep from

  • to end. Row 9: K2, * P5, K3, rep from * to last 7sts, P5, K2. Row 11: K1, *P7, K1, rep from * to end. Row 13: K8, *P1, K7, rep from * to last st, K1. Row 15: K7, *P3, K5, rep from * to last 2 sts, K2. Row 17: K6, *P5, K3, rep from * to last 3 sts, K3. Row 19: K5, *P7, K1, rep from * to last 4 sts, K4. The last 16 rows form patt, rows 4 to 19. Keeping patt correct, cont in patt for a further 32 rows, ending with WS facing for next row. Next Row (WS): K1, P to last st, K1. Work in g st for 3 rows, ending with WS facing for next row.

I have looked on line but can’t find what it means
Thank you

Hi, from that phrase onwards the same pattern, as set out in the chart, is written out line by line for preference. Some people cannot read from a chart or just prefer a written pattern.
