Help with SSE sts

I’ve started knitting the Storm Mountain sweater and I’m confused about one part of the SSE stitch edge. It reads as follows:

Last 4 sts of WS row: k1, p1, k1, wyif lift the bar between the needles onto the right needle so the right side of it at the front, wyif slip last st purl wise.

First 4 sts of RS row: K tog tbl the first st and the loop created by lifting the bar…

I don’t understand the bold part…I’m assuming “TBL” means the back loop but the working yarn is between those two stitches. It just seems weird and I don’t know what the whole thing means.

I’m also struggling with the whole “lifting the bar” part because it’s hard to see. Any tricks for this?

THANK YOU!!!

Pick up the strand which runs between sts of the previous row. It should be similar to working a Make 1. You won’t be lifting onto the left needle but onto the right needle instead and you’ll just leave the bar there instead of working into it.
Yes, when you turn, the yarn is in back, between the last two sts. Put your right needle into the two loops (the last stitch and the picked up bar) as if to purl and knit through the back loop. It should make a nice edge.
