Help with sleeve pattern

Hello,

Im new to knitting and have only made simple scarves a couple of times. My daughter has asked me to make a sweater for her favorite stuffy. I printed out a pattern that said it was beginner level but I am having trouble understanding it. I have googled this particular instruction and can’t seem to find anything helpful online. I am hoping someone here might be able to help point me in the right direction. This is for the sleeve, I have already knitted the back (28sts, 32 rows) The instruction I am stuck on reads as follows…

Cast on 8-6-4 sts at the beginning of the next 6 rows (64sts) K 16 rows

Im assuming I do not cast off and just continue the 33rd row as a row of 64 sts with casting on at the beginning of the next six rows. Im just not sure how many sts to cast on as it says 8-6-4. I don’t know how to read this. Do I cast on 8 for the first row of 64sts (assuming this is for a total of 72) and then six for the next row, then 4? But then what to do for the next 3 rows as I am supposed to cast on for the first six and then go back to the 64sts total?

Sorry, I’m so lost! I hope this makes sense to someone out there that can help explain to me what to do.

Thank you!!

Hello
It’s written in a bit of a confusing way but if you are currently at 28 sts then it works out if you cast on at the beginning of the row
Row 1. 8sts
Row 2. 8sts
Row 3. 6sts
Row 4. 6sts
Row 5. 4 sts
Row 6. 4sts.
This makes each side equal and the stitch count total after these 6 rows comes to 64 sts.
Then knit 16 rows without any increases.

Hope this helps.

Thank you!!! This is most helpful and makes sense. I really appreciate you taking the time to reply and help me. Thank you very much!

You’re very welcome.
Don’t hesitate to ask again if you get stuck.
Maybe you’ll post a pic when you’re finished. Enjoy the project.
