Help with Sirdar hat pattern

Hi hope someone can help I’ve nearly completed the pattern for a sirdar hat pattern but now have got stuck on the last section.

Edging
Right size
With rs facing and using 10mm needles and pick up and Knit 8 sts along back cast on edge and 22 sts evenly round 1st ear flap. 30 sts.
cast off knitways.

i have no idea what this means or can find any help from my books the had appears finished in shape just appart from this additional edging. Could anyone help me.

If you crochet, a crocheted edging along the bottom might look good too.
