Help with shoulder and neck shaping

Shoulder and neck shaping
Bind off 4 (4, 5, 5, 6, 6) sts at beg of next 4 rows,
3 (4, 5, 5, 5, 6) sts at beg of next 2 rows, AT SAME
TIME, join a 2nd ball of yarn and bind off center 21
(21, 21, 23, 23, 23) sts AND working both sides at
once, dec 1 st from each neck edge once as foll:
right shoulder work to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1;
left shoulder k1, ssk, work to end.

I have done the first part but I am completely confused after that. anyone that can explain I would be grateful. I am not sure if on the next row I should bind off 6 more 2x or what and when to add the new ball of yarn. feeling frustrated. I have searched the net all day with no luck of finding an answer to my ?

First, figure out which are the center 21 stitches.

On the next row, bind off 3 stitches, work across the rest of the row. Bind off 3 stitches at the beginning of the next row and work until you are at the edge of the center 21. Drop your yarn, bind off 21 center stitches with a new ball of yarn, and finish the row.

You will now have a strand for each shoulder.

Work across the right shoulder, decreasing as written at the neck edge, then the left shoulder, starting with the decrease at the neck edge.

Thank you for the help. :o) I’m doing the size that requires 6 sts so I would do 6 not 3 right? I don’t understand why they didn’t just say bind off first 6 sts on the next 6 rows seems like it would be less confusing. Thanks again for the help

Yes. Work the number of stitches for your size, of course, including using 23 of the center stitches.
