Help with shorthand please

Hi guys, I’m really struggling with a stylecraft bambino pattern. It’s all in shorthand and I really can’t work it out. This is the second time I’m having to ask you all for help, sorry! Shorthand is so hard to understand.

Cast on 3 sts at beg of next and folk 2 alt rows (41sts).
Cast on 3 sts at beg of 2nd and foll 1 alt rows, then 0sts at beg of foll alt row (53sts).

I cannot seem to get to 53 sts, thank you in advance.

Call the next row, row 1. Cast on 3sts at the beginning of rows 1,3 and 5.
Then I wonder if the cast on is at each end of the following alternate rows? That would be 12sts, 6 at each end.
What is the name of your pattern? How many sts do you have at the beginning of these instructions?
