Help with short rows

Hi,
I am knitting a toy dog and have just come to start on his head. The pattern calls for short rows and i am stumped! The pattern is:
Row 7: K15, wrap and turn (leave 3 stitches on left hand needle unworked)
Row 8: Working top of head on centre 12 stitches only, P12, w&t

I can get row 7 but I don’t understand row 8. I have 15 stitches on my needle and it’s asking me knit only the centre 12. So my question is what do I do with the first stitch in order to get to the centre 12?

I hope I have explained it properly, I am new to this forum.
Appreciate any advice.
Thanks!

Welcome to KnittingHelp!
On row 7, you’ve knit 15 and then wrapped and turned. On row8, purl back on only 12 of those 15sts and then w&t again. You’ll have unworked sts on both needles (on either side of the center 12sts) but don’t work those for now. The pattern directions will account for them further on.

Ah I get it now!
Thank you so much for your help

Oh dear I have just come across another stumbling block a few rows down. So I had to continue with the short rows of 12 stitches, and then the next row says to knit across all stitches (18 in total). But from the last row I have 15 stitches on one needle (12 worked and 3 held) and 3 on the other (the 3 stitches that weren’t being worked in the short rows). So how do I knit all 18 if 3 are on the other needle? The pattern doesn’t mention how to get all stitches back on the same needle. So confused!
If it helps the patterns says:
Row 9: K12, w&t
Row 10: P12, w&t
Row 11: K12, w&t
Row 12: P12, w&t
Row 13: Knit across all sts (18 sts in total)

Thanks again for any help, it is much appreciated.

Well, you’re right. If you turn at the end of row 12, you only have 15sts to work across but then all 18sts will be on one needle.

When you turn at the end of row 12, ready to knit the sts, there’ll be 3sts on the right needle and 15sts on the left needle. Work those 15sts onto the right needle for the total of 18sts.

Oh dear of course that’s it thank you!
I can’t believe I had been stressing over it and it just meant 18 total at the end, I somehow got it in my head it meant work 18 stitches. Thanks so much for pointing that out to me.
