I’ve gotten through row 1, then I’ve gotten through the purling in row 2 and have come to (w&t, knit to end).
I’ve turned the work.
I need to slip the next stitch, done that.
I need to bring the yarn around that stitch - not sure how this works. Do I just draw it back between the needles to the front as if to purl, or do I wrap it around the needle itself?
And, once this step is done, the patterns says (knit to end) - do I turn it around again and simply knit?
I hope this all makes sense. I’m going to watch the video again but it seems to confuse me more every time I watch it.
I need to bring the yarn around that stitch - not sure how this works. Do I just draw it back between the needles to the front as if to purl - yes, and then it will be in position to knit when you turn.
And, once this step is done, the patterns says (knit to end) - do I turn it around again and simply knit? Yes
Okay, now I’m looking at the whole pattern and I think I messed up.
Was I supposed to knit back in the opposite direction?
I ask this because the pattern says:
Row 1: knit all
Row 2: purl 32, w&t, knit to end
Row 3: purl 32, knit 8
Row 4: knit 8, purl 32
Row 5: knit 32, w&t, purl to end
Row 6: knit all
Now, I know from the pattern that the waistband is intended to be garter stitch, so that’s where all of the knit stitches need to be (straight needles), so there is no way that Row 3 can start at the waistband end since it starts with purl.
So, I think I should undo the last 8 knit stiches, then knit back down the purl stitches?
Follow the pattern. When you wrap and turn, you’re going back to the other side of the row, and when you come back again and work those 8 end stitches, they’ll be in garter too. Don’t think too much, or second guess yourself, just follow the instructions.
I wasn’t second guessing, I just didn’t understand what wrap & turn meant. It’s really the first patter I’ve ever tried lol, so everything is sort of unfamiliar.
Thank you - if anywhere before I had read “When you wrap and turn, you’re going back to the other side of the row” I would have had this figured out yesterday lol.
