Help:
I am at the Pattern stitch of this sweater. It calls for knit the knit-purl the purl. It does not look like the picture.
PAT ST= (multiple of 6 STS)
row 1 (RS) p3, *k4,p2, rep from * end k3
rows 2 & 4: K the K, p the p
row 3: k3, *p2, k4; rep from *, end p3…
The basket weave look isn’t coming out, How do I take it back to re do the pattern? Thanks, Linda
When a pattern says to “knit the knits and purl the purls”, it just means to knit the stitches that look like they were just knit. Then purl the stitches that look like they were just purled.
So, you’re NOT going to be knitting the stitches you knit on the previous row. (That’s what I used to think when I was first learning to knit.)
It used to make me SO mad when a pattern would say “knit the knits and purl the purls”, because I just didn’t GET it. :help:
Now, I have learned that when you do that, you’re actually purling the stitches you knit on the previous row. And you’re knitting the stitches you purled on the previous row. Confusing, I know…but you’ll get it one day.
To undo what you knit, put the left needle into the st below the one on the right needle, slowly pull out the left needle and pull on the yarn. There’s a video on the Tips page under Fixing mistakes.
The more experienced you become, the easier it will be to “read” your knitting. In other words, if you’re doing a certain sort of stithc, such as a basketweave st, the directions will make sense. in the mean time, follow Shandeh’s and suzeeq’s direction’s above:) .
