Help with Reading knitting pattern

Ok, I am doing a checkered scarf: with color A cast on 25 sts. Color Pat appox 57" from beg. to ending with Row 1 or Row 5 . Bind Off. Block scarf to measurements.

Color Pattern: a multiple of 4 sts + st; a rep of 8 rows.

Row 1 (WS): With A k1, p across, ending in k1.

Does this mean that I knit 1 row, purl one row,and then knit another row?

I’m trying to learn but its not very easy for me. By the way, when they way wrong side, do thaty mean the wrong side of a stockinette stitch?

Row 1 is the wrong side–the back of the scarf/the purl side of the stockinette.

The directions are for that one row, only.
Knit 1 stitch, purl across, knit the last stitch.

You start with color A and cast on 25 stitches. Then you work row 1.

The beginning directions are pretty much an overview of the project. You’ll work the pattern for 57 inches, ending with either a row 1 or 5.

Row 2 sya qirh B, K1m sl 1; *k1, sl 3; rep from * across, neinding k1, sl1, k1. I can’t find anything on slip stiching.

To slip stitch, just move the sts from the left needle to the right needle.

lol sorry that’s with B, k1, sl1; *k1, sl3; rep from * across, ending k1, sl1, k1.

Oh okay! Slipping may seem weird at first, but then it’s all like, okay then this is so easy!

With B am I supposed to cast on 25 sts too?

It seems like you’re just supposed to start knitting with color B on Row 2. Slipping the sts from the previous row will leave them in color A and thats how you get the checkered effect.

Hmmm, Okay. I’m gonna try it out
