Help with reading a chart in Els Lavold Viking Knits #9

I am in very beginning stages of working on Estrid, p 47. I cannot figure out the chart A, row 3 to row 4. After I finish row 3 I have 18 stitches yet row 4 only gives directions for 14 stitches. I am sure I am reading something incorrectly. It is driving me crazy. I googled for errata and also gone to her website and the only error listed in in the number of skeins needed for larger sizes.

If anyone has this book I would really appreciate it if you could look at it and tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks - this is the first time I have ever knit with a pattern from her

I have the book, but I’m not sure which chart you’re referring to. The first chart after the ribbing looks like it has 20 stitches to me. :??
