The lace pattern runs up the front of the jumper showing two little “holes” side by side. When I knit I only make 1 hole. What am I doing wrong? I have a piciture of a pattern but would need an e-mail address to send it to if that helps? Please help. Thank you. Stephanie
Theholes are made with YOs which is the ‘yfrn’ and ‘yon’ and there’s 4 of them on Row 2 - K20, P2, YON, SL 1, K2TOG, PSSO, YFRN, P2, K31, P2, YON, SL 1, K2TOG, PSSO, YFRN, P2, K20 .
So maybe you’re not doing them right. The YONs go from a purl to a knit dec, you just lay the yarn over the top of the needle instead of moving it between the needles. The YRFNs go from the knit dec to a purl, so you wrap the yarn as for a regular YO, then bring the yarn through the needle tips to the front for the purl st.
There may be. This glossary from Bernat yarns includes them; yfrn is the same as yrn. YON and YFRN are british/canadian terms for YOs; they describe how to move the yarn while YO is the result.
But I don’t know of a video and it can be described. Basically, the YON goes from a purl to knit - instead of moving the yarn to the back between the needles, lay it loosely over the top of the needle from front to back. YFRN, goes from a knit to a purl - make a regular YO (or bring yarn to front, then over the needle to the back) then bring yarn to the front again through the needle tips. You can practice these on a sample, use some leftover yarn and whatever needles you have handy.
