Help with pattern

I am making the Smock-a-Ruche scarf from 101 Designer One Skein Wonders. I need to finish the last two rows and am having a hard time understanding the pattern. I have just purled 48 stitches. The next row says:
*K1, yo; repeat from *. You have 96 stitches.

The only way to get 96 stitches is to have a yo at the end. Is that possible to end a row in a yo?

The next row says:

*K1, K1b; repeat from *. (K1b =knit one through the back loop)

Bind off in knit.

Please help.

You can end with a YO, just be careful when you turn it that you can knit into the loop on the next row. Or begin the next row with the YO, and count it as the k1 st, and k1tbl on the 2nd st.
