Help with Pattern

I’m trying to make a felt winter cap for a baby and the pattern reads as follows:

k1, m1, knit to last st, m1, k1.

If I’m knitting until the last stitch, how am I going to do an m1 and a K1 when there are no stitches left?

Thanks,
Janice

Knit to last st means knit until there’s only one stitch left on the left needle (the last stitch), not knit until you’ve finished the last stitch. You can m1 and k1 as usual, since you only need one stitch for that.

Thanks so much for getting back to me. Now I can move forward because I understand what I’m supposed to do.
