Just unsure when this pattern says rejoin yarn to 47 sts that were on a holder then put the first 10 sts on a holder and pattern to end. Are they wanting those 10 going on a holder knit first? Otherwise my yarn is crossing over them. I am knitting a toddler pullover round neck line and isn’t making sense to do it that way
Thank you in advance
What is the name of your pattern and the designer?
It may be that they want you to join the new strand, work in pattern across the first 10sts, then put those 10sts on a holder and continue across the remaining sts. You can quote a row or two if you want. Just don’t post a large portion of the pattern due to designer copyright.
Thanks and that is the only way I could figure it as well. It is Sirdar Snuggly # 1648 and the rolled sweater version is all I can see on here.
The wording is
With RS facing rejoin yarn to (47) sts left on a stitch holder, slip first (10) sts, pattern to end. (37) stitches left
Very pretty sweater. I do see comments on Ravelry about the neck being a bit tight. One knitter went so far as to add a button to the collar. Something to watch out for.
Thanks and that is so disappointing about it being tight, I feel like I always pick one with a problem ( usually made by me lol)
In yr opinion wld I be knitting those ( 10 ) sts that are going back onto the stitch holder? And then carry on with patt. Wld there be any easy fix for the tight neck? In the pic the rolled part looks loose so it’s definitely deceiving
Would you be able to tell me where I would look for reviews in the future? I’m trying to find something in Ravelry about it but don’t see much in reviews and not sure where to check
Thanks ![]()
I’d pick up sts or knit sts from the holder with a size larger needle and see how it looks and feels. I tend to be a loose knitter so I usually can manage. I agree that the rolled neck version looks pretty loose and a comfortable fit.
Yes, knit across those sts in pattern since the rest of the sts are to be knit in pattern. Don’t work any cable crosses along the row even if it should be a cable cross row. This may be the center neck so working it as knit stitch should be fine too.
I go to Ravelry and check the finished projects over on the right of the main page. You can search those projects for knitters who mention “neck” or “mistake” or whatever. Sometimes those notes are lifesavers.
Ok thanks so much, I appreciate it
