Help with pattern Snurrevadgenser in Rauma magazine #319 2019

This is a sweater pattern knitted in the round from down to top. I have knitted the pattern up until the armhole. I have 256 stiches. It says: place a marker at each side, which I did. Bind off 9 stiches at each side for the armholes. Work front and back separatly.

I don’t understand if they want me to bind off 9 stiches on each side for both the front and the back, or bind off 4 stiches on front, then 5 on back for one side, and same on other side.
Anyone has a clue?
Thanks!!

Hi and welcome to the forum. I’m not sure how to answer your question so will leave it to someone else. I did find the pattern on Ravelry.

Welcome to KnittingHelp!
I tend to think it’s exactly as the pattern says, bind off a total of 9sts at each underarm. I would bind off the 9sts so that the front and back have equal number of sts. You might check further along in the pattern and see if the stitch number then adds up.

Thank you so much! I will try it like you say. I might come back for further help, as the pattern is quite complicated I find, manageable in the round but might get a bit trickier with binded off stitches. I guess I should continue the pattern so that it fits what has been done previously. Thanks again for a quick answer to my first post!

I would read it to bind of 9 stitches on each side of the marker. Looking at a couple of patterns I have that are knit flat, they have you bind off 7-9 stitches on each side of the front AND on each side of the back, so 14-18 stitches on each side of the sweater. See which answer gives you the correct stitch count for the next row after the stitches are bound off.

There is no mention of how many stiches are left after binding off. I don’t know what to do as I have two contradictary answers. Maybe if I show the sleeves instructions, wich says at the end bind off 8 stitches at the center of underarm.

The sleeve bind off is a good guide because it’s going to line up with the bind off at the underarms. Usually it’s the same as the underarm bind off but 8sts is close enough to the 9sts required in the body of the sweater. When you come to seaming the sleeves to the body, you’ll line up the 8sts bound off at the sleeve with the 9sts bound off at the body.

Thanks to all who helped! I have another question related to the same pattern, shall I make a new post or continue here?

It’s related to the armhole measurement. Should the measurement be done straight up or following the armhole curve where the decrease starts? I am joining the pattern text, but could make a drawing if not clear. Thanks!

Measure straight up from the row with the initial armhole bind off row (or as close as you can estimate that bind off row).

Thank you so much!
