Help with pattern for bonnet

hi i am knitting a bonnet for a baby and the pattern reads

k1 then yfwd 3 out of 3. Can anyone say what that means, does it mean do yfwd then work 3 stitches and then yfwd again?

Any help greatly appreciated.

THanks

pat

What is the name of your pattern?
Can you quote the entire row that contains this part?

it is Snuggly double knitting 380. the entire row says

K1, yfwd 3 out of 3, rep from ? to last st, k1

Hmm, I can come up with a book 380

It might help if you could scan a photo of the bonnet and post that. Does the pattern define yfwd 3 out of 3?

Thank you. It does help to see the photo.
Three out of 3 is probably a way of knitting 3 together, then k1, yo, k1. In the end you’ve taken 3sts and knit them as one then created 3sts.

The pattern should define 3 out of 3 in a list of abbreviations at the beginning or end of patterns.

i am sorry i looked at the beginning of the pattern with the abbreviations and saw this

So I am assuming i knit 3 sts, then take 1st stitch over the other two, which makes sense.

i should check first, Pat

OK, great, you’ve solved it. If you work 3 and then take one stitch over the other 2 then your sts will decrease but the yfwd will add a stitch to keep the count even.
