Help with outside in sock pattern

I found this really cool sock pattern and I really want to try it but I’m a little confused with the increase pattern that is below, along with the link to the pattern itself. I just need some help understanding the increase pattern because of the brakets that just have a number ( in bold).

Work increases:
Round 1: K1[0, 1], p1[0, 1], (k3, p1) 3[4, 4] times, k1, yo, p1, yo, k1, (p1, k3) 3[4, 4] times, p1[0, 1], k1[0, 1], p1; repeat once more to end of round. 68[76, 84] sts.
Round 2: K1[0, 1], p1[0, 1], (k3, p1) 3[4, 4] times, k2, p1, k2, (p1, k3) 3[4, 4] times, p1[0, 1], k1[0, 1], p1; repeat once more to end of round.
Round 3: K1[0, 1], p1[0, 1], (k3, p1) 3[4, 4] times, k2, yo, p1, yo, k2, (p1, k3) 3[4, 4] times, p1[0, 1], k1[0, 1], p1; repeat once more to end of round. 72[80, 88] sts.

That IS a really cool sock! I think I might try it myself.

Okay - your issue:

The stitches which make the pattern are shown in the parenthesis (***), the number of times you do them is shown in the brackets [***] - the info in the brackets follows what you need to do for what size sock you are making. This is indicated in the beginning in the legend (i.e. S[M,L] - if you are making the small sock, you go by the info just outside any brackets, if you are making the medium sock, you go by the first number INSIDE the brackets, large = second number INSIDE the brackets).

Make sense?

I would suggest, in order to not confuse yourself, that you write down what you need to do for the size you are making, getting rid of the superfluous info that you don’t need.
