Help with neckband (child’s jumper) please?

Please can someone help( first ever jumper!)
I have got to neckband but can’t work out how to do this!! Can somebody explain very simply to me please?

Join right shoulder seam. (How do I do this)
With right side facing use 5mm needles pick up and knit 13 stairs evenly down left side of neck. ( again how?)
Knit across 8 stitches left on stitch holder ( hopefully will be able to work out that bit)

Line up the seam and then you can either work mattress stitch or a conventional seam to join the two pieces.
Here’s a video for picking up sts. The left side of the neck is the left side as you would wear the sweater. That’ll set up the sts on the holder so that you can knit them.
