Hi everyone,
I am trying to make the multi tartan sweater found on Love Crafts using their paintbox yarn however the chart to create the plaid does not work as designated for each size.
The chart and sizes below show size 34 repeating the light colored strip twice before doing another dark strip. So I decided to try size 36 but that repeat has 107 cast on stitches while the repeat pattern has 25 stitches so I’m left with 7 stitches at the end of the row. Can’t figure out how to fix it.
Any ideas?

The pattern repeat is 12 sts but there are sts before and after the repeats. For size 36, for example, there are 109sts after the increase. If you look at the chart for size 36, the yellow bracket includes 10sts before the repeat and then 3sts after the repeat. So work the 10 initial sts, work the repeat of 12sts x 8 and then finish the row with 3sts to the left of the repeat. (10 + 96 + 3 = 109)

You are too kind. It’s just that I’ve puzzled over the very same thing in a pattern before. You might as well benefit from all of my mistakes and false starts.
