Help with "M1 into 8thst"

Hi everyone

I’m a pretty new knitter and I’ve just started the pattern (linked below) for a Beret.

http://www.lincraft.com.au/downloads/267_tasseled_beret.pdf

I’m now stuck on the row
"K7sts, M1into 8thst, K1, M1 (K13, M1 into 14thst, K1, M1) repeat sts in brackets 7times, K7"

Before the row i have 129 stitches and after I’m supposed to end with 145 stiches, but I’m not sure how to get there.

I know how to M1 and I know how to “inc into next st”, but not sure how to M1 into a stitch (eg the M1 into 8thst, and the M1 into 14thst parts).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

145-129=16 so you should m1 (increase) 16 times. I think the way it’s worded, it might want you to use the m1 by knitting into the front and back of the 8th, 14th, whatever stitch.

That’s right, you’d inc in (or m1 after) the 8th st, then K1, M1,*K13, M1 in (or after) the next st, K1, M1, and repeat from the * 7 times, ending k7.

M1 in this case means inc, probably kfb.
