Help with loom knitting pattern, multiply the meaurement by the gauge of 7?

I am trying to knit some socks using a loom. The pattern says to measure my foot then multiply that number by the gauge of 7. What does that mean? I am then supposed to subtract 15% of that number and the remaining number is the amount of pegs I am supposed to use.

Does multiply by the gauge of 7 just mean multiply by 7?

Am I subtracting the 15% of that number from the original measurements or the number I get after multiplying by the gauge of 7?

I don’t know anything about loom knitting, but based on my knowledge of knitting and socks I’d guess they are making 7 stitches in an inch for the gauge. You measure, then multiply your measurement by 7. I guess they want it 15% smaller than than so you then subtract 15% of that number and that will tell you how many pegs you want.
