Help with knitting pattern

Hi,

I’m trying to decode a knitting pattern for a sleeve, the bit in italics is the part I’m struggling with most.

Here is the pattern:

Inc Round: K1, M1L, K to 1st before mrk, M1R, K1.

Cont inc as set on 4(7:13:2) foll 6th(7th:7th:7th) rounds and 9 (5:9:10) foll 7th(8th:8th:8th) rounds [68(70:72:74) sts]

Welcome to the forum!
I don’t know which size you’re making but let’s take the smallest size as an example.
Increase every 6th round for 4 rounds. If you call the Inc Round that’s given round 1 then the increases would be on rounds 7,13,19 and 25.
Next increase every 7th round for 9 rounds. That’s rounds 32,39,46,53,60,67,74, 81 and 88.

What is the name of your pattern and designer?

The name of my designer is Dario Tubiana and the pattern is called Cadair Idris.

That’s what I initially thought but the pattern says I start off with 44 stitches and after increase I should have 72.

The pattern says I should be increasing every 7th round for 13. Then every 8th round for 9 stitches. Each increase adds 2 stitches so by the end I would have 88 stitches not 72

The numbers on this size don’t seem to add up.
The designer may be able to clear this up. You could contact via ravelry

Did you check the numbers for the other sizes to see if they work out correctly?

Great looking Icelandic sweater!
The directions are to increase on the 13 following 7th rounds and that’s all (13x2=26 plus the initial 2 increases is 28sts increased taking you from 44 to 72sts). When there is a - (or a 0 or x) for your size, skip that direction and go directly to the next step.

There’s an errata page for this sweater. It doesn’t list the increases but maybe will apply later in the pattern.

Brilliant, thank you that’s helped me so much.

Just to double check. So I’m increasing on the 7th round. So it would be round 8, round 15 round 22 etc

If you work the increase round that gives you the placement of the increases:
Inc Round: K1, M1L, K to 1st before mrk, M1R, K1.
and call that row 1 then the increases are on rounds 8,15,22, etc just as you wrote.
I hope we get to see a photo when you finish. This is certainly a striking looking sweater.
