Help with knitting pattern please!

Hi All,

I’m knitting my first jumper & I’m stuck, I keep ending on a purl row, when it should be knit!

…ending in a p row.

Shape Armholes:
Cast off [5] sts at beg of next 2 rows. [60] sts.

Work 3 rows.

Next Row: k2, k3tog, k to last 5 sts, sl, 1-k2tog-psso, k2.

Rep the last 4 rows.

I’m doing something wrong as when I get to the 'Next Row: k2… I’m on a p row and not a k row???

Can anyone explain please???

Welcome to the forum!
Looks like it’s the pattern. You could work across the purl row and then do the decreases at the armholes on the next knit row. Then you’d be on the correct side to continue with the 4 row repeat.
A row more isn’t going to make much difference to the measurement of the piece.

Hi Salmon Mac! Thanks so much for replying.

I unpicked one of the ‘work 3 rows’ as assumed I had done an extra row. Now you have confirmed that you think the pattern is wrong. I’m now on the Rep the last 4 rows.

Shall I p one row, k one row, p one row then:

Next Row: k2, k3tog, k to last 5 sts, sl, 1-k2tog-psso, k2.

This is my first time knitting a patern and I was so pleased that I actually worked out the above row - only to then get really confused!!!

Yes, for the repeat of the 4 row pattern, purl a row, knit a row, purl a row and then do the dec on the next row. You’ve got it.
Unfortunately you will sometimes find errors in patterns. The more patterns you do, the easier it gets to spot them and work around them.
Good luck finishing up!

Great! Thanks for your help.
