I have searched for help/video on this knitting instructions with no luck! I am hoping this knitting help will be able to explain step by step on how to knit the following instructions:
With 12 sts on a needle,
Row 2: k2 (k1, p1 in yo*, k1) 2 times, yo, p2 tog., k2
Then below, the author wrote:
*not in each yo - k1 in first yo, p1 in next

ETA I think the problem is in translation.
(k1, p1 in yo*, k1) 2 times
k1 in yo, p1 in next yo, but the * is confusing to me. What is supposed to be repeated there and how many times? Then it’s all repeated 2 times.
I’m out of my depth but somebody else should be able to help.
I’ve managed to get into the site that GG linked to and I think I’ve worked it out.
I’ve copied both rows 1 & 2 and as you can see in row 1 there are double [B]yo[/B]s.
row 1: k2, yo, p2 tog., k1, ([B]2 yo[/B] , k2 tog.) 2 times, k1
row 2: k2, (k1, p1 in yo*, k1 ) 2 times, yo, p2 tog., k2
*not in each yo- k1 in first yo, p1 in next . times, yo, p2 tog., k2
As the double yo is, in effect, one large loop wrapped twice round the needle, you need to k1 into the first part of the yo, keep the yo on the left needle and bring the yarn to the front and then p1 into the second part of the yo before slipping the yo off the left needle and doing one normal k st. The repeat this sequence once more before doing yo, p2 tog.
GG, I think in this case the pattern writer has used the * to bring the readers attention to an explanatory footnote instead of as an instruction to repeat a sequence of stitches. And yes, I agree, it’s not the clearest of instructions.

A footnote makes sense here. I think it’s one of those things that gets confused in translation. It’s a beautiful pattern and that it was made available in English is wonderful.
Lummicat - Once you work this through and know it works (assuming that it does, I’m fairly sure it will) you might make a comment on the Ravelry page to let others know. I think when a designer makes an effort to translate they should know it’s appreciated even if you need to point out a minor problem.
