Help with gusset!

Still working on 1st sock using 2 circulars for olympic kal. I probally won’t make it–but, it won’t be for a lack of trying!!

I’ve been by my lys twice looking for help–one instructor quit, another had to leave out of town for 3 weeks. The only instructor available doesn’t do socks. (although I may have converted her  !

I posted a picture of my sock on my blog http://rowanknittingbliss.blogspot.com/

I picked up stitches on left and right. I have one needle through bottom ribbing to the rightside (looking at the inside of the sock), a holder for stitches at top and 2 circ. on lefthand side (looking at the inside of the sock.

I wish I could offer a little wisdom, better description, but I’m clueless  I’m going to go searching for bordhi’s book tonight!!

thanks,
knitbebe (rowan)

Looking at Sensational Socks description of doing cuff down socks on two circs…

You end the heel turn with the Heel stitches on Needle 1 and the Instep stitches on Needle 2. That’s usually an even split between total stitches. The important part is that you have the top of the foot on one needle and the sole on another.

Then… Needle 1: pick up stitches from side of heel flap, pickup however many extra stitches you’re supposed to at the top of the gusset. Place marker and work the stitches you already had on needle 1.

Needle 2: Work the stitches you have already on needle 2 then pickup required number of stitches from gusset and heel flap.

Each needle should now have half of instep and half of sole stitches. Work your decreases as directed and then when you get down to the proper stitch count, rearrange stitches so that sole is on one needle, top/instep is on the other.

Hope this helps!
