and I’m not sure about the M2 chart. When it has the symbol to K2tog, what color am I using to do so? Am I using the color I was using up to that point, or do I switch colors? Or do I determine it by what colors are just beneath where I do k2tog on the previous row? :??
But I can’t tell from the chart what color would come next. I’m at the 6th row from the bottom on M2. Where it has the k2tog symbol, how would I know what color that would be if it weren’t marked with k2tog?
That row looks like it brown, since the other section of the pattern has three X’s. As you go around, you’ll get white, brown, brown, brown, white brown, brown, brown, this way.
Thanks, Ingrid. I think doing that k2tog in brown does make the most sense. It would be, then, like the row below. But I won’t be able to tell in future rows based on symmetry. Many times it’s not (3 browns and 1 white) 2 times, but first 3 browns and 1 white and then 4 browns and 1 white, like that. I think, for example, that the next time I have to do k2tog, it will have to be in charcoal, so 5 brown + 2 charcoal, and this will line it up with the row above.
I feel like there should be some standard way of this being clearly indicated in a chart without guessing. Like one symbol for k2tog brown and a different one for k2tog white and so forth. I don’t know, maybe I’m missing something.
I just love your sweater. I am so glad I looked at your pattern because I could not find too many sweaters I liked on other sites but on that site I found too many I liked. Once I get my sweater done I am doing now and learn some more from these great ladies I will attempt that sweater. I don’t understand what the smallest size is. Is it 43" across the chest finished? It looks a little fitted not big and boxy. Anyway send a pic when you are done.
I’m glad you found Drops, Candy. They have a lot of cute patterns there. And I read on their forums that they will translate patterns upon request, so if you look through the untranslated patterns, there are 3000 to choose from instead of a mere 1500.
Yep, Jane is right, the measurements are all in centimeters, so if it says 43 cm, divide by 2.5 to get 17.2 inches. That’s the front 1/2 of the sweater and so 34.4 inches all the way around.
:pout: I hope I didn’t hurt your feelings–I certainly didn’t mean to. I just meant that it is a complicated pattern, so they assume you’ve done them before. Please don’t be hurt! It really was meant as a compliment for attempting it and succeeding at it!!

Too late! My feelings are hurt! back of hand to forehead I will never recover. :—
