I’m relatively new to crochet but I’ve made a few items and came across this photo of a flowery scarf:
I don’t imagine there’s a specific pattern available for this sort of thing, but do you folks have any tips for how to proceed? Should I just make a bunch of flowers of various sizes and colours and puzzle them together until it looks right?
That is gorgeous! Apparently it is only available in French! I found a reference to it on flickr at the above link. If you have any luck finding it in English, please share it here. It’s a beauty!
I’m going to take a stab at translating it. Would anyone be willing to proof my work? I’m fairly new to crochet and want to make sure I get it right before I post it
That’s so cool that you can translate French! If you do get it translated into English, I would be happy to test it for you, but probably not until after the holidays. It’s such a pretty design and all the individual flowers are even pretty on their own. A lot could be done with them!
But I’m really getting into the groove. Once I managed to figure out the abbreviations and the way they format the instructions, it got a lot easier. I’m already on flower #3
I invite your comments and criticisms. I plan on getting started tomorrow (with some subtler colours) so if there are any mistakes hopefully I will encounter them.
Just a note, I translated some of the colour names but I’m not sure if I got them right because they were abstract words in French (like “budgie”). I did the best I could, but use the photos as a guide for your colours. I also found that the “bronze” looks green in the photos.
I also tried to work the magic loop into the pattern as I like using it myself but I’m not sure if I did that properly.
Lastly, if anyone is planning on proceeding with this pattern but in different colours, I could easily do a global replace of colour names in my document to make your life easier. Lemme know
Wow, Zoe, that is amazing! I would love to give this a try after all my other crochet projects are caught up. I would imagine if anyone uses your pattern and finds an error, they will post it here and you can make corrections. You’ll have to keep us updated on how yours is coming along too!

Well done. Seems now unnecessary to offer a French to English (both UK and American terms) translation for crochet terms. Yet if there are any snags in the testing of your translation this might be helpful then. www.passion-crochet.com/lexique.html
