Hi!
I am very new to knitting, and was trying to cast off. Unfortunately I didn’t have enough yarn to do that, but did not know how to go back and undo the casting off that I had done. Some wool then slipped and I am left with the photo attached. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Thank you in advance!
If you’re doing garter stitch I’d just carefully unravel (frog) a couple of rows (do it until the working yarn is connected to the first stitch you’ll be working) then cast off after you put all the stitches back on the needle. You’ll have enough yarn then ![]()
I find it’s also easier to frog cast off stitches if you’ve messed up somehow anyway.
Hello! I think this video will help you! Also it teaches you how to fix other mistakes:) hope it helps

Welcome to the forum!
Edge stitches can be difficult to fix. It may be best to either frog as Shintoga suggested or if you’re not sure about doing that, tink back a couple of rows.
The rule of thumb is that you need about 3 times the length of the sts on the needle in order to cast off. That may help you decide when to start casting off.
Your knitting looks nice and even. That’s not easy to achieve especially when you start out.
Thank you so much!
Thank you, really great link!

I’m reading new posts and replies and what catches my eye?
Frog and tink should be automatic links to a knitting terms thread that defines them. Just for newbies that haven’t learned them yet.
LoL
I guess I’ve been writing too many software error reports and instructional documents at work lately.
