Help with Finishing - Running Stitch

Hello Everyone!
i’m working on a brimmed hat and am a little confused on how to fininsh it.

Basically, the brim is formed by folding over 5" of work around a moon shaped plastic template. The instrictions say to close the work with a running stitch. this is where i’m stuck. does anyone know if there are instructions somewhere on how to make this stitch?

Running stitch is a simple sewing stitch where you end up with your stitches looking like this:

So, short stitches with equally short spaces in between them.

Thanks! So would you sart from the back and sew between the knit stitches? I’m just unsure how to secure it to the work
