Help with "embroidery" on a felted item please

Hi!

I finished my felted Ipod cozy. I used 2 strands of sock together, but pattern called for WW. Anyway, it says to embroider an edging around where you cut for the holes, which I definitely want to do, but I have tried three different needles and I have had no luck. What kind of needle has an eye large enough to accommodate yarn, but still is sharp enough to pierce through felt and can I get it like at Joann’s if such a thing exists? Help!

Thanks all!

i use a tapestry needle, and yes you can find it at a craft, fabric or yarn store. they also sell embroidery needles. either of these needles will accommodate the size of the yard. as far as getting it through the felt goes, you just have to work it through because no needle big enough for yarn is sharp. when i use my tapestry needle i press a fingertip on the bottom side of the garment, then push and kinda rotate the needle into the garment until i feel the tip of the needle with my finger underneath. then you should be able to push it through. don’t be afraid to use a lttle force!
